On 5th June 2025 at University of Gdańsk the workshop organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Legal Research featuring prof. Dirk Heirbaut took place. The workshop was a part of the project funded by the National Science Centre “A Tsunami or a Gentle Tide? European Legal Thought Confronted with the French Commercial Code of 1807”.
The event started at 11.00 am. After a short introduction speech made by the dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration – prof. Wojciech Zalewski, and dr Anna Klimaszewska, the leader of the project, the substantive part of the workshop was initiated by a lecture of the guest Professor regarding the methods of conducting research in comparative legal history and legal domain. The professor covered, among others, the contextualization of legal history, concept of sources of law, research pitfalls as well as usage of technology and AI for conducting and systematizing the data for legal research.
After a short pause gourmande, the workshop was resumed by Adrian Warsiński, who described his role in the project and shared with the audience his current findings on the application of code de commerce in Germany. After him, the floor was taken by Katarzyna Latek, who similarly to her precedent speaker, elaborated on her part of the work by explaining the term of contrefacon belge and its importance for the project. Both presentations were then debated and commented on by the present Professor and the audience.
